Best Year Ever....and it's only getting better!

So two weeks ago Chris and I celebrated our one year anniversary! I can't believe we have already been married a year, but it was an amazing year! If that's the hardest year of marriage than I can't wait to see what's to come! It has been a great year. I love him more today than I did then and it never ceases to amaze me how much more I can love him everyday.
We decided to stick around the Huntsville area since we are saving money for a plane ticket (more to come on that later)...but we had so much fun! It was the perfect day!
Since Christopher had to work I told him I would fix him anything he wanted for breakfast. Now I asked him this about a month before our anniversary so I could guarantee that I had everything I needed. So what does the boy say that he wants.......POACHED EGGS....more specifically Eggs Benedict. Now not only have I never poached an egg, but I have never even eaten a poached egg. I am pretty sure that I have never seen a poached in egg in real life. So I busted out Google. And I researched and researched. There are a lot of ways and tips for poaching eggs and I soon realized that the poached egg wouldn't be the hardest part...it was going to the the Hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict. But I tried my hardest and while I think my Hollandaise sauce needs some work (it was a bit on the runny side) breakfast turned out to be edible! SUCCESS!
My poached egg!

The completed breakfast!

The happy hubby! Love him!

So off to work he went, but he decided to only work a half day and came home to take me out to lunch. When he came home he had these in tow.
Flowers from the sweet husband.
Earlier in the week we had found these beauties and I was able to have them in house! Aren't they pretty?!
My favorite flowers.

So with the house smelling wonderful with all of our lovely flowers we went to this place called Phucket. Its a Thai restaurant and we had been discussing trying but just hadn't and I found a coupon for a buy one get one lunch special. So off we went to lunch! It was pretty tasty!

My lunch....Steak Teriyaki Bento Box

Happy to be at lunch with my hubby!

After Lunch

And one more before we headed to the movies!

At lunch we decided we would go see a movie. We weren't really sure what was out and when we got to the movie theater we realized that there wasn't any movie that we both really wanted to go see. So we settled on X-Men: First Class. We have enjoyed the X-Men series and we really thought they did a decent job with this movie, which was surprising because we all know how series go (downhill usually).
After dinner we headed back to the apartment. We had dinner reservations but had a few hours before having to be there. So we just relaxed around the apartment. It is always great to get to spend some time with Chris. I wish I got to spend every second of every day with him...but since I can't I really enjoyed getting to spend some time with him. And then it was time to head to dinner.....We got all dressed up and headed to The Melting Pot. Christopher put on the suit he wore for our wedding! I had (and still have) the most handsome groom ever! Doesn't he look amazing!

We really enjoyed The Melting Pot. They were so sweet and had a happy anniversary card for us at the table and our waitress was really sweet and excited about us celebrating! Dinner was DELICOUS! After dinner our waitress brought out dessert and a special dessert plate that said Happy Anniversary with a candle and all! It was too sweet!

After dinner we took a few pictures next to the fountain at Bridge Street and then headed home. It was such a wonderful day! I couldn't have asked for anything more!

We decided to start a journal for our anniversary gift(s) to each other. We bought a nice journal and had some pictures developed from our wedding and our first anniversary and few photos from this past year. Ever year we want to update our journal with a small entry of things that have happened over the past year and a few pictures. When I started asking people what they did for their first anniversary I was surprised at how many couldn't remember. I didn't want to ever forget how great this first year was, and that is how this journal idea was born. We are hoping that 50 years from now we can look back at things that were important to us and goals and dreams we have had in the past. We are so blessed to have each other and are so thankful that the Lord brought us together. What an amazing experience we have shared already and we look forward to what the Lord has in store for us in the future!
"Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame." Song of Solomon 8:6
We want to thank our family and friends that have continually prayed for us and for us to follow the path the Lord has for us. What a great year we have had and we are thankful for the thoughts and prayers of those that care and love us!

  2. You're going to think we're copying you when you read our anniversary post in the next few weeks. Definitely starting a journal and had already decided that! So we're not copying! Great minds just think alike! :)
