A weekend of Dates....

So a couple of weekends ago Chris and I realized that we didn't have much of anything going on so we decided on a weekend of dates!
Friday we volunteered to work the Galaxy of Lights with the Mississippi State University's Huntsville Alumni Chapter. After volunteering Chris and I decided to take the drive around the lights. It was hard to get some good pictures with the stop and going and all the brake lights and then trying to keep the pace up with the other cars. But here are a few I got.
Penguins of course.

A super bright reindeer.

The Nativity in lights.

Happy Holidays!

It took us a while to get through all the lights. Probably close to 20-30 minutes. By the time we got finished we were ready to go home and go to bed! But we really enjoyed riding around and seeing all the lights displayed.
Saturday we got up and just went running around town. I love (and I mean LOVE!) just spending time with the hubs. And running around town hand in hand with my husband is one of my favorites!
That night we had got tickets to see The Nutcracker. Both us were really excited about going and we were really excited to get dressed up and go out! So we got all dressed up and headed out to grab some dinner. We had an Olive Garden gift card so thats where we headed. But we weren't thinking about it being a Saturday night and the wait was over an hour! So we decided to check out Red Lobster. It was a shorter wait, but still not something we thought we could do...so we thought about it and decided to go to Zaxbys and just grab something to get us by and then after the show we could go get dessert somewhere. So to Zaxbys we went! It's pretty yummy! After dinner we headed to The Nutcracker. It was fantastic!
Before the show. The hubby said we needed the flash, but I didn't put it on...Guess he knew what he was talking about!

During intermission at the Nutcracker store..
So during intermission we went downstairs and walked about the Nutcracker store. They had BEAUTIFUL nutcrackers for sale and some lovely ornaments. They were also selling hot chocolate and sugar cookies. The line was SOOOO long, but my husband loves me and waited with me in line to get some hot chocolate and sugar cookies! We had so much fun and are excited about going to see it again next Christmas!
After the ballet we decided to go grab some dessert or something and ended up at Steak and Shake. We got us a Oreo Mint Milkshake. DELICIOUS!!

Sunday morning we got up and decided to go to brunch. Our friend Calvin had gone to this place in 5 points and said it was fantastic and that we had to go try it out. So we went and it was so yummy!!! We can't wait to go back!
I mean seriously...who wouldn't want to anywhere and sit across from this cutie!

With our meals they offer a complimenatry mimosa.

I ordered shrimp and grits! They were so delicious!!!

Chris' Milk Stout Pancakes. Yum, Yum, Yummy! They were so light and fluffy!
So if you are looking for a place to go eat in the 5 points area you should check out 1892 East. So yummy!!!

So that wrapped up our weekend. Can't wait to have another weekend of dates!
I think that is what we are looking forward to the most, spending time with the fams!
Hope everyone is doing well! Merry Christmas!!

Its Christmas Time!

It's Christmas Time!! The decorations have begun. and the apartment is looking so festive! There are several other crafts that I wanted to do this year, but they haven't happened yet so I am not sure if it will...we will see we will see.
So this year we went and cut down our very own Christmas tree! It was so much fun! We headed to the other side of Huntsville and visited Valley Christmas Tree Farm. They had TONS of trees to choose from and all sorts of sizes. The farm grows four different types of trees and then they offer a fifth type that is already pre-cut. When you arrive they point out the four different trees and the area they are located. They give you a measuring stick and a saw and then you are off!
With his saw and measuring stick...we are off to find us a tree!

I think we found us one!

With our cute little tree before we cut it down.

The hubs cut it down!

And then carried it to the car.

Where I got to ride in the window to make sure the tree didn't make a run for it!
So we got us a tree and then headed home to decorate.
We got the tree in it's stand.

Cut off it's netting! Isn't it pretty?

And added some lights!
Then we spent some time decorating the tree. Next came the presents. I have been a wrapping machine the last few days, but they are all wrapped up and ready to look pretty under the tree!!
Before Presents.

and After...
We have a few other decorations here and there around the apartment. Here are a few..
My precious moments nativity, snowflake tree, and penguin snow globe.

Penguin corner.
We have also started our Christmas card garland. We have already gotten some really awesome Christmas card so the garland is looking quite festive!

Last night we had a little birthday/Christmas get together with some friends. We all got together had pizza and cake and watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It was so much fun. I didn't get any pictures :( but had a great time with Ester, Brian, and the lovely Pierce family.
We will be volunteering at the Galaxy of Lights here in Huntsville with the Mississippi State Alumni Association- Huntsville Chapter. We did it last year and had a great time and we are looking forward to doing it again this year.
We also are going to the see the Nutcracker! I am so excited. I love getting opportunities to dress up and go out on the town with my adorable hubby!!! I promise to take some pictures to share!
Well that's all I got for now! Hope you all are enjoying this wonderful Christmas time!! We are have been so blessed this year and we are so thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives!

Thanksgvining...

So last week Chris and I packed up and headed to Memphis to spend some time with the fam. We always enjoy getting to spend time with our family and especially during the holidays because you get to spend more time with extended family that usual. We also had my dear sweet friend Amelia meet us in Memphis to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. We were sad that she couldn't spend it with her sweet family, but we were very excited that we got to spend time with her!!
We head to Memphis Wednesday and Thursday we got to go to Aunt Mary's house to start the Thanksgiving celebrations! We had so much fun and we were very excited that Janet and Steve got to join us too! It was a lot of fun and the food was DELICIOUS!! (*photos from Amelia and Aunt Mary*)

After we ate at Aunt Mary's we headed to Olive Branch to have Thankgiving with my family. We were so STUFFED from Aunt Mary's that I don't think we ate much of anything...We did have some dessert...YUMMY!
Sweet Ellie got paid a dollar to smile real pretty for the Matthews' Christmas Photo.

Isn't she just adorable!

Little Amelia made sure she didn't miss out on the money deal!

Precious Chloe and Gracie.

Beautiful Robertson girls!
Thursday night Amelia and I went out for some Black Friday shopping. We left my parents house around 9:30pm on Thursday night and arrived back (completely exhausted) at 10am Friday morning. Some places were absolutely INSANE! But for the most part we didn't have too much trouble at all. We got back and took a nap and then Amelia headed back to Starkville to get ready for the Egg Bowl! The rest of Friday I just hung around the house with the family and that night I went out for a date with my youngest sister, Anna. We went to see Breaking Dawn in theater. My other sister was going to see the movie with a friend so Anna and I just went on our own!
Saturday Chris and I went and spent some time with his parents. We got to go eat lunch with Mimi and Aunt Mary and enjoyed getting to spend some time with them as well. We then headed over to see my grandparents house. They had gotten it decorated for Christmas so we went to go check it out before heading back to my parents house for the Egg Bowl. My mom had snacks for our "in-house tailgate". We had a great time watching the game and can't wait to go to the bowl game!!!! Woo Hoo! Hail State!!!

So that was Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for having such a fantastic family and friends. We are always surprised at how blessed we are and anytime we can step back and take a look around and appreciate what we have we are always blown away at what we have to be thankful for. We are looking forward to getting to spend more time with cherished friends and family over the next month.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are able to be thankful for what you have in your life!
